Taiwan Sheet Metal Business Association
The Taiwan Sheet Metal Business Association was established in 2018, and its inaugural meeting and first annual member representative conference were held on April 14th in Taichung City. Brain Lin, the General Manager of PCMI company was elected as the first Chairman. He expressed the hope that through activities such as strategic learning, industry alliances, and platform services, they could gather the strength of various sectors, including government, academia, and industry, to enhance Taiwan's sheet metal industry's global competitiveness.

Taichung is a significant hub for the machinery industry, and there is a great demand for sheet metal talent. The establishment of the association is expected to greatly facilitate industry communication and talent cultivation, effectively boosting the industry's international competitiveness.

Chairman Brain Lin stated that there are over 3,000 sheet metal-related businesses in Taiwan, facing not only a talent shortage but also a lack of an interactive platform for communication and benchmark learning. To cultivate more professionals, strengthen operational capabilities, and expand international markets, they decided to establish the "Taiwan Sheet Metal Business Association" by combining the efforts of like-minded parties.

The association's short-term goals include consolidating and strengthening member cohesion, promoting benchmark learning, and enhancing operational efficiency. Additionally, as many domestic businesses are transitioning to the second generation, the association will create a platform for exchange and learning to strengthen the abilities of the next generation, ensuring smooth business succession and innovation.

In terms of long-term goals, due to declining birth rates and the long-standing neglect of vocational education, there is a severe labor shortage in domestic companies, and there is a lack of professional talent. The association plans to collaborate with relevant institutions in industry-academia partnerships to deeply cultivate vocational education and wholeheartedly nurture sheet metal professionals. Brain Lin mentioned that talent development and succession planning are the association's focal points, with plans to hold the first second-generation training camp in the latter half of this year. In the future, they will also organize events such as "Professional Skills Certification" and "Excellent Sheet Metal Exhibition" to increase young people's interest in the sheet metal industry and achieve the goal of discovering and training talent.
